John Read PhD is a psychologist who has taught and researched in Great Britain, Australia and the US. He has taken on many of the most important mental health issues of our time: the role of neglect and abuse in all so-called mental disorders, the role of trauma in hearing voices, the dreadful impact of long-term exposure to antidepressants, the harm of ECT, and the best approaches to healing emotional suffering, including family interventions. John ‘s voice is positive as he keeps us in touch with the most encouraging innovations, including the growing strength of the movement of voice hearers. A very good show!

Wow! This is such a fascinating conversation! As you talk about the nature of hearing things being related to dreams and trauma, it suddenly occurs to me that what if hearing voices is a more severe form of sleep paralysis. It would be interesting to do brain scans of those with sleep paralysis and see whether people when hallucinating have similar activity in the brain... similar chemicals that cause sleep paralysis. I have sleep paralysis and it always gets worse when I’m either sleep deprived or under a lot of stress.

But if I cannot get the help that need just to be able to survive and improve the safety and quality of my own life then I wish to die and am so ready to just end my life. I have already failed with my recent attempt. I think I know now what method WILL work. I just am no longer willing to be a victim anymore. Basically I can no longer even get the basic medical care that I need because my psychiatric records, past medical records, as well as the break up with my primary care physician a year ago. There is a for profit healthcare system where I live and theyOWN almost all medical facilities within my ability to travel to and EVERY physician and their staff have complete access to ALL of my medical records for many years back. It has the same effect as a felony criminal record.

I have just found you and sent you an email today already. I believe that I have a potential mal practice suit but I need help. It would be a dream come true to be able to win it but to keep just enough to provide for my basic human needs and then establish a non-profit with the rest.
